In the spring of 1989, Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons announced a scientific discovery whose implications could change the destiny of mankind: cold fusion, or the ability to produce nuclear energy clean and cheap. Ten years later there are still many controversies hot and unanswered questions. It 'possible that all scientists who support the validity of the new discovery is in error? On the other hand, it is likely the hypothesis of an international conspiracy against them? But most of all: cold fusion "works"?
In 2001, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics in Frascati ENEA creates a collective of scientists to study and implement cold fusion, which was announced as a new scientific theory 10 years earlier by Fleischmann. Rubbia, former Nobel Prize in physics, was one of the first to believe in nuclear fusion at room temperature produces immense energy, and it was he himself who require the preparation of a detailed report on the results of the experiment in order to obtain a clear answer and incontrovertible on the possible creation of free energy. In fact intended to present an entire academic scientific evidence that the scientific revolution was already underway, and it was in the hands of Italy with the results live, just when the world cold fusion was completely sunk to make way for controlled fusion termonuclerar .

So begins the adventure ... all Italian cold fusion in search of a new source of energy, which will meet many difficulties to overcome first, however, widespread skepticism especially at the level of senior scientific leaders rather than between individuals. The research team is composed by Prof. Emilio Del Giudice, Antonella De Ninno and Antonio Frattolillo, the team that had witnessed the prof. Prepared in the drafting of the Protocol for the replication of cold fusion.

The experiment was intended to verify that the reaction that caused a great heat and light energy, it was kind of nuclear power. The researchers detecting traces of helium-4 and excess heat, which confirmed that the fusion of hydrogen had occurred due to a nuclear reaction: from this point of view, the experiment can be said to be successful. Rubbia at first convenes scientists also giving a contribution to complete the report and the results of the scientific experiment, but then leaves the working group.
What has then sparked the indifference and rejection of that project, we can only suspect, as many and perhaps were too many obstacles and barriers to overcome. In any case, it is strange that this arrest occurred at the very moment in which they had obtained the first concrete results until now it has been confirmed that this system is able to produce the correct conditions - as well as the power fed - from 10% to many thousands times the input power. It also showed that in cold fusion experiments have been transmuted elements, have appeared of the atoms that were not present before the experiments began.
In any case, it was time to invest in real or substantial recourses that little experiment to obtain results also perceived by the community to be able to say that this is in effect a form of energy. In 2004, the Ministry of Productive Activities, convene the President of ENEA Fusion Division, after reading the "rapporto41" and calls for the restoration of the research granting funding to bring the project forward. The experiment, however, is entrusted to another working group, coordinated by Vittorio Violante and connected to research groups in Japan and America.
